I've always wondered what it would be like to be in a movie theater during an earthquake. I need wonder no longer.

Last night we were in Torrance watching Star Trek when an apparently 4.7 strength quake hit. The epicenter was less than 10 mi from us.
The theater was pretty full, and people are stupid. I stayed in my seat covering my head with one arm. When the shaking was over, I looked up, and people were already rushing towards the exit:much of the left side of the room. Most of the room, however stayed in their seat and continued watching the movie, which was not interrupted.
Me and my bro went outside, talked to some people, including a fellow from The Bronx, who said that was is first quake. He was excited. We talked about how it was a pretty good, long shake. I was ready to just leave and stay outside, to avoid any aftershocks, but eventually, my bro convinced me to go back to the theater to finish watching the movie.
