You're probably right that death is not exactly knocking at Blu-ray's door, but...

I doubt I will ever upgrade to Blu-Ray, since I expect to have hi-def streaming video in my house soon enough.
Of course households like mine aren't in the majority, but I guarantee the Blu-ray people are as concerned about people like me as the phone companies are about people giving up their landlines for cell phones. (I only worked in telecom for a little under three years)
As worried as the buggy whip makers watching the Model Ts roll off the line? Nah.
in 50 years, we'll be streaming video straight into our visual cortex. Blu-Ray discs will be a memory in 15, 20 years tops.
