I got snookered in a bit; the first episode I saw was the one with Lex in the asylum as Cash's Hurt played.

Given my first episode of Buffy was Hush, I thought maybe all the episodes were really good ...
Nope, turns out it was just John Glover and Michael Rosenbaum were so much better than everyone else when given an ounce of coherent writing.
And those ounces were given infrequently.
