People were taken to one of several central locations for forced labour and death, which left more evidence than the usual “kill people where they live, take their food and let any survivors starve” method.
I don’t disagree with the Daily Show but there are other factors too.
There was a large diaspora of Jewish people throughout the world who have conscientously worked to keep the memory alive.
And it’s part of Western history, so it’s seen as more important/relevant to us Westerners.
And finally, the people who committed genocide lost the war and their heirs have accepted the Holocaust as an atrocity that their forebears committed, and have generally committed to maintaining that memory. For many other genocides, it’s controversial to refer to them genocides and is still political years or centuries later.
