The 'loophole' there is that you are betting on the outcome of the game including how it is called.

The guy shoots 90% from the free throw line. He's supposed to make 9 out of 10 but in this game he makes 3 out of 10.
The guy is supposed to call him out but in this game he calls him safe.
Will there be people mad? Sure. But there are people angry about every result of every game. I agree if it was particularly egregious it would be very upsetting, but there are bad beats every night.
