No, but as Roger Moore notes, the amount of money the NRA spends on campaign contributions is not huge. They do also spend money indirectly, but their

real power is that they can drive voters to the polls to protect or punish candidates based on their views. For a long time the religious right was able to do the same thing. But people's views on gay marriage have changed since it was legalized. Now a majority of both parties supports it. That wasn't the case 10 years ago (or even 4 or 5 years ago). Public perception can change, but usually, it follows action being taken (and the realization that the world didn't end). Much like Obamacare which people hated until they had it.
