Not halibut-specific, but I made this last week with a firm white-fleshed fish

Season the fish with salt and pepper. Fry in olive oil, about 3 minutes a side. Take out of the pan.
Fry some onion and chopped garlic until soft.
Add some wine (1/4 cup or so) and deglaze the pan.
Add 1 cup clam juice/fish stock and bring to the boil.
Add a dozen clams, reduce heat and cover until the clams open.
Add the fish to the pan and simmer until reheated.
Put fish, clams and sauce in serving dish and sprinkle with chopped parsley and toasted almonds.
I served with a buttered rice pilau that was cooked with zucchinis and peas.
