In response to "So we managed to fire a paralegal today who started on Monday. " by pmb

oof. I was just thinking the other day about one of the worst new hires I've seen.

(is it possible I haven't shared something like this with ST? probably not, haha.)

vp of corporate communications for a pretty big, pretty traditional publicly-traded company.

he'd been with another big local company, had great references.

dude somehow lost his danged mind and thought he could do the job working mostly from mexico, where he had a house with his wife.

this was around 20 years ago, when telecommuting wasn't nearly as common as it is now, because we just didn't have the tech to do it then. he was gone right quick, because no.

how the heck do you not bring that up in the interviewing, let alone hiring, process?

(and, crap, in googling to confirm what his title would have been, I just discovered that the guy who had been in the position and was retiring from it, and who I closely worked with for some time before then and for whom I had great respect and affection, and about whom I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't heard from him in a while... died in 2016. he was 78, but crappity crap.) :/
