Kidding.

I think journalists have deeply internalized this idea that they're all a bunch of mushy liberals so they have to seek out these anthropology type stories. Some of them are also assigned, so that doesn't help. But I've seen the comment made of "imagine a story in 2010 about voters in Chicago that still support Obama". You'd be laughed out of journalism.
