I can't make sense of this article. It sounds like cops complaining that people are driving within the speed limit.

The NBA salary cap for next year is ~$102 million. Golden State was at $135 million just for their starters before signing Cousins.

aha, okay, now that's crap. And so is the article because it doesn't explain this. -- nm

"The Warriors were able to sign Cousins as a free agent despite being tens of millions of dollars over the cap thanks to one of the NBA’s many..." -- nm

Still, the article makes me think Cousins is at fault. If they could have signed anybody while in overcap, his value isn't the issue.

to me, its like The Emperor's New Clothes...the Warriors are the kid who pointed the truth out and ruined it all - that is a crude analogy, but still -- nm

Meh -- I don't think you should ever punish a team for drafting well.

Either follow the NFL/MLB model, or don't have one at all.

NFL cap is completely broken. MLB is completely broken.

There is a thing that is called a mid-level player exception. The problem is no one really thinks Cousins is a mid level player. -- nm

and? Will that give him more cash? Or is this about forcing all the banks to take a loan to cover the bad ones?

They are saying that he should have signed with one of 29 other teams because he isn't a mid-level player. The Warriors are already way over the cap -- nm

But many teams didn't want to pay him (for various reasons) so he took a 1yr shot to win a ring while he got healthy
