I'll start off by saying that the XBox One X is the best piece of console hardware ever. There's no doubt there.
However, as someone who thoroughly loves and enjoys single-player games, the PS4 is the only console that makes sense to own out of the 2 big ones. Granted I don't care at all about Halo, Gears of War, or Forza, so the XBox has nothing to offer me.
Multi-player games are more or less the same on both. If those are your pure focus, pick the console that has more people you know that play the same types of games.
PS4 is also the only one of the two to have a VR solution, if that matters to you.
Depending on how you value the previous options, you really can't go wrong with either overall.
Personally, I weigh AAA single-player experiences more heavily than playing multi-player with people I know, so I'm clearly in the PS4 camp due to their incredible lineup of single-player exclusives.
But at the end of the day, play your games. Have fun. Wreck Spawn in PvP. It's all good.
