I think most people are just clueless in general to The Way Things Actually Work. Back when my wife worked for the AB govt building schools, were at one of Subby's parties and a guy there started complaining about how rural schools were getting overlooked and such, having clearly been fed a line of crap by an ass-covering principal. She, with an amazing calmness that I'm always in awe of, took apart his arguments and showed him the process without making him seem like she's talking down to him - my usual line is "dazzle them with competence". But it was clear he had this notion of how everyone was just twiddling their thumbs (there are those govt workers to be sure!) and was grabbing on to whatever scraps they put together. She always said that the people that least understood what was going on were the principals.
She hates being that public, but I'm convinced she could be an excellent politician.
