I think that it's fine to have a preference for cold vs heat, but when it comes to true extremes, I think cold wins.

Extreme cold trumps all things, due to the fact that no matter what supplies you have, it can kill you. If you are properly equipped, extreme heat should not.

Also, I tend to prefer temperate climates to super warm ones. Calgary actually has just about the right climate for me.
