Actual library user exchange from yesterday: Guy sends 90 cents worth of print jobs to printer, has trouble releasing it, has me release it for him.

Now, normally, he'd release it himself at a coin-operated printer set-up. (This set-up does not give receipts.)
But I release it for him and collect his 90 cents. Then he asks if he can get a receipt. For 90 cents. Which he wouldn't have gotten if he'd printed it the way it's supposed to work, and which he was willing to do, and tried to do, in the first place.
Me: Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I don't have any actual receipt slips at this desk. (I rummage around and find none.)
Him: You can just hand write it.
Me, laughing: Well, sure -- so could anybody.
Him: That's okay, they trust me.
(THEY TRUST HIM. BUT HE NEEDS A RECEIPT. FOR NINETY CENTS.)
