I don't expect the UAW is all that popular in Fremont for precisely the reason she cites: the closure of NUMMI

The UAW has been trying to unionize the Fremont plant for over two years. If management was violating NLRB rules and laws on unionization efforts, they'd have plenty of evidence to bring before the board.

It very well may be that management and hourly get along and that hourly feels union representation would not result in any benefits.

I'm pro union but the people being repped have to want that representation. Nobody is served if the UAW gets involved where it isn't wanted by the people it claims to represent.
