I'm not going this year but the Citi Open is this week in DC. Highly recommend it if you're in the area and have any interest in tennis.

It's a men's and women's tournament with strong fields in both - Murray, Wawrinka, Isner, Wozniacki, Stephens for starters.
If you can take a day off I suggest going Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday. Those days have a lot of matches and it is a fun day.
You can get single session reserve tickets for as little as $25. You can buy the cheapest nosebleed seats because they'll get you in the grounds. Once there the reserved seat is only for the stadium and all of the other court seating is just first come first served and people to from match to match.
The non stadium courts are just bleachers and it's amazing to see some of the best tennis players in the world play up close.
The grounds are fairly compact and the players walk the same paths as the fans so you can be walking along and there goes a top 10 player walking right by.
The food is State Fair type food and it's pricey because they have you as a captive audience.
