Mr. McCarthy, a Dodger until this year, pointed out that Utley is a prototype for baseball professionalism. Mrs. McCarthy pointed out that he's wearing a shirt for a cancer charity.

You don't often see a player and his wife from one team defend an opposing player from criticism made by their (Atlanta's) team's announcer.

Joe's just a cranky old man on this one, and I think he realized it overnight.
