Most people don't discern

they had 3 great performances...that's 2 more than many Best Picture noms. You then get the credit for the writing and the directing because great actors can't do it alone; they need something strong and someone strong to guide htem.
There -- you now have more than enough to give the movie it's due based on truly not much more than Frances and Rockwell chewing scenery and Harrelson calmly ruling every scene he's in.
