Take a look at these processor comparisons to get an idea of where it stands compared to others. It is about 35% slower than a 5th generation Core i5 -- (edited)

I would look for an SSD instead of a spinning HDD. Also see if you can go Intel they last longer and run cooler -- nm

Tough for me to say, since I've been out of the computer specs game for nearly a decade. However, it seems alright-ish for that price.

One thing that always concerns me about laptops is the layout of the keyboard and quality of the trackpad. I don't know what HP's trackpad record is. -- nm
