Depends on type of signal but are *very* effective for my commute. Yes, Audis and crap set them off at close range in front of you but I can know... -- (edited)

... there is a cop a mile ahead around a curve with a cheap radar detector. Nearly once a week I hit my brake and cars sail past me only to be pulled over. Remember, my commute is over 2 hours each day.
