In response to "My understanding based on YT videos of it in action is that it can slow down at stop signs but not fully stop - the driver has to." by Beryllium

Autopilot can be used in stop and go traffic and will adjust speed to the car in front and come to a complete stop as the car in front stops.

It will not recognize stop signs, stop lights, or any other traffic signage or lighting.

But AEB, and this is true of ALL AEB systems, not just Tesla's, if an obstacle is in the roadway (stopped car, animal, etc) will mitigate the severity of the crash, but rarely completely avoids it.

This dumbass used Autopilot as if it is level 5 (full autonomy), but it's only level 2.

Level 2 is a combo of traffic aware cruise control, lane keeping, and AEB.
