usually when there is a salmonella or other food borne illness that is associated with produce its usually attached to the food via poorly maintained washing at the distribution center or by close association with grazing cows (odwalla apple juice) but a rotting zuke is mostly a visual problem...jeez every time we go shopping I'm pulling out of the crisper bin a bag of some goo that's disincorporated back to the swamp it crawled out of. we'd sure as hell would be dead by now
