The Democrats have a supermajority in the Assembly (NY's version of the house) since most of the seats are in NYC.
The IDC were elected Democrats that made a deal to form a separate caucus that kept the GOP in the majority. Cuomo did nothing about it, until pressure earlier this year made them dissolve it and caucus with the Democrats again, but they're still down 1 seat going into this election.
There is also one rogue Democrat who caucuses with the GOP by himself. His seat is completely safe because he's an Orthodox Jew and his district is overwhelmingly Jewish.
