Go to the scam megathread on reddit, some good info there (linked). The most important thing is that if they actually had the video, they would send images to prove it - those you should take more seriously. This is just a very very common scam.
Have you wife CALL her IT help desk and report the issue and have them change her password. It's possible there's a keylogger or something, but unlikely. Then, when she gets in to work tomorrow, have IT look at her computer to see if there is anything wrong. She should also consider getting a password locker, creating randomized passwords and changing on a more regular schedule so this does not happen. Having a password you use commonly is dangerous.
It's unnerving, but a good lesson in security and being more responsible with your password choices.
