Hugh would also have to be wrong, since he also says "Our family is like an unfinished meal to that House"
Also, the House protecting itself from fire requires the interpretation that the House thinks that the Red Room can't be destroyed by the fire so it needs to save itself too?
In any event, I though the Abbie is not a ghost plot was surprising and well done.
