In response to "friends telling their Paul Allen stories, this from a pretty good blues musician (how he came to owe the 3rd richest man $25) " by zeitgeist

another

1st is, Allen used to be the third richest man in the world, he lost that spot because of his philanthropy.
2nd. We have the MoPOP because Paul bought Jimi Hendrix's stratocaster for 1.2$million and had the museum built in dedication, The original name was EMP which stood for Experience Music Project.
3rd, KEXP exists due to Paul Allen's repeated donations.
4th, Cinerama's restoration was made possible by Allen.
5th Paul Allen secured the Seahawks would stay in Seattle. and
6th, and the most impressive contribution in my opinion is the Allen Brain Institute. I did some service repair on the furniture in this office and learned that Paul Allen helped fund the nitrogen freezing of a cadaver who donated his body to science, who was sliced into extremely thin layers and then cat and mri scanned. The responsibility of this particular office was to map the entire brain of all the nerves and pathways. This is the part that impressed me. The member who told me all this information explained the overwhelmingly majority of the work on this project would not be completed in the lifetime of most of who are working on the project. That simply spoke volumes to the ideology of Allen's legacy.
Seattle is a better place because of Paul Allen...and Fuck Cancer
