Potter's point though is that is thirty-plus years of getting to this point.

I've worked in politics long enough and been standing next to enough scrums to see that edge in the politician *AND* the journalist. Especially the aging Boomer journalists and the fresh out of J-school young ones. His point isn't that the journalists are the sole cause of the friction, just that it exists on both sides.

I firmly endorse that position.

(For example, how would have PET's derision of the weak-kneed have played today? *That* would have been the headline of that entire exchange.)
