ST Knows A Lot of Stuff: Recommendations for learning conversational Spanish?

I'm playing around with Duolingo and Babbel, plus a couple sub-Reddits. But further comments and suggestions are always welcome.

I'm about to put down a deposit on a three-week trip to Costa Rica, through the Panama Canal, and then to Colombia next December, so I need to get serious about upping my Spanish language abilities.
