I think it would be interesting to visit the sites with a historian. There'll be a good amount of walking and nothing in Boston is

straight ahead. There's a lot of wandering and weaving to get to the next location but the whole city is walkable from end to end.
Unless you really want the guided tour you can save the money and just go and do it yourself. There's a marked trail to follow the Freedom Trail which takes you to just about every historical location in the city. I followed it to the end and then went on to Charleston to see the USS Constitution and Bunker Hill.
