depending on how far your islands are it could be cheaper to build on site than transport, I mean a lvl 3 is only a couple pallets of wood

so I build barracks up to at least phalanx level and then build advanced stuff at my main town and transfer, its especially cool to start a colony and staff it with a garrison of advanced troops so if an ahole decides to attack a weakling they get mighty surprised by a couple dozen phalanx, gunmen and flame throwers
