look, the steroids era, players were putting up numbers at 38,39,40, that just is not realistic anymore.

the ledge is likely 34, with a few stragglers hanging on longer. 10 years puts them into their 36 season, and it likely means that they are going to be paying 2 years of 25 or 30 million to someone who is not worth 10.
I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone making 175 million, but it is a serious lowball offer, I am almost embarassed to be a White Sox fan today.
