On the flipside of freaking out over a snowflake, our new VP in Annapolis comes from Cedar Rapids, Iowa... -- (edited)

Annapolis got between 8 to 12 inches of snow between Saturday and Sunday night. For that kind of snowfall, our location will normally allow emergency leave - which means you can stay home that day, but have to make up that time later.
But since our new VP is from Cedar Rapids, and is used to huge amounts of snow, she didn't approve emergency leave on Monday. She stated that she got to work just fine, so everyone else should have been able to. People are pissed!

Single data point, no context... very much a "it's snowing outside, so there's no global warming" b.s. How is this person a VP? -- nm

Here, we generally let the local school systems declare first and we'll follow a few hours later.

It usually comes down to actually having the means to do something about it and not just the fact that people are scared.

We've had that scenario than the news will show someone skid off into the lake on their way to work and things get changed.
