that depends on a lot of things, like how well you budget (how realistic, how accurate, etc). Also, it depends whether you are working as you travel.

Some planning is a necessity. Some crazy risk-taking is also a necessity.
Here's my story: When I went to the UK, I had so little money I had to borrow $400 for the plane ticket, and I had to sleep on someone's floor for a month. However, I already had a job lined up. If I didn't have a job lined up, I might not have taken that risk. As it was, I repaid the $400 within a couple of weeks and we found a flat a month later.
