I know nothing about any of the guys in Virginia - so whether or not they have lived their lives as racist assholes - I have no idea.

And I have little tolerance for people doing this shit in the 80s, 90s, etc.

But for crying out loud - this was 1968. Is that really what we are now?

Also - who has the fuckin time to just sit around and try to tear people down for the sins of their VERY distant past.

I don't know - feels slippery slope-ish to me.
