Remember that employee we terminated and sent off with a $250 gift card as severance?

Because when I asked if we could increase it to $300 or $500, I was told 'we can't afford it'? That was just two weeks ago. Yesterday I received govt notice that she's filed for unemployment insurance. She's planning to drop healthcare insurance at the end of the month because she can't afford it without a job.

Today my bosses reviewed last year's completed financials and decided to hand out bonuses to the existing staff, including themselves, the total of which equals the former employee's annual salary.
