details on it...

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (via Ringside News), there were some communication issues between Triple H and Vince McMahon this week over the NXT call-ups of Ricochet, Aleister Black, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. Not only did Triple H not know about the call-ups in advance, but Ricochet originally had a different opponent in Finn Balor.

Meltzer said: “Vince is reacting to the ratings, I think there’s a reaction to AEW and basically he wanted to get wrestlers on RAW now and so you know he’s not that up on NXT, but it was essentially, ‘Who are the four best guys?’ These are the four best guys, I guess. Triple H didn’t know. There was a communication thing there. So he just wanted those four guys. I’m not sure whether he picked them or whether he was told that these are the guys.”

Aleister Black has been discussed before, but the other three were said to be total surprises. The decision was made late last week.

Triple H also had to talk Vince down from his initial plan, which was to have Ricochet debut against Finn Balor. Triple H didn’t like it because he didn’t think Ricochet should lose his debut and Balor shouldn’t lose immediately after winning the Intercontinental title. He also didn’t like the idea of a babyface vs. babyface match for Ricochet’s debut. So they were teamed up instead and defeated the team of Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush.
