Except for Netflix, it’s not about grosses. It’s aboit building prestige in order to get more subscribers.

They wouldn’t be spending $25m+ to win Best Picture if they didn’t think the end result was going to be spectacular. And if they win on Sunday and then win again next year for The Irishman or another prestige picture, Netflix become THE GO TO PLACE for Oscar winners. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
