From B2... the truth is, Roma winning Best Picture changes very little

Even the most successful Best Picture winner at the box office, Titanic, was not seen in theatres by the majority of Americans. Assuming every single person who paid to see Titanic in a theatre only saw it once in a theatre, which we know is not the case, then only 1 out of 3 Americans saw it in theatres, best case scenario. But we know there were tens or possibly hundreds of thousands of people who saw the movie in theatres more than twice. The “general public” traditionally does not see their movies in a movie theatre, and hasn’t since around the late 1940s/early 1950s.
