Also you need some base math skills if you want to pursue it in college. In my physics group we had a former football player

When asked why he chose physics he said it was because he blew out his knee and needed to pick something else, so he thought majoring in physics would be interesting. But he had no previous significant math classes and ended up switching majors because he couldn't keep up with the college level courses.
