Q for ST: Why do some novels I read put "[novel title]: A Novel" on the cover? Is there some significance to that? I know it's a novel. -- nm

My guess would be if it has a somewhat ambiguous title, you'll be able to search for it.

Maybe there's another book with the same, or a similar title?

Also, maybe customers don't know it's a novel. If I write a novel about (say) the Battle of Gettysburg, I'll have to call it Gettysburg: A Novel
