this is similar to me - I did almost everything on my own. did the psat, took the SAT once as a sophomore and did well enough that I didn't need to

take it again. (I had big brain special stuff in my mix, too, from grammar school onward. *secret handshake*)
I had schoolmates who had tutors and took SAT prep stuff, and there were some with Ivy/MIT/etc. goals; but it wasn't as crazy as it has gotten since then. so much more pressure, in various ways. it's awful, in general, and the ongoing issues with suicides in some local areas is just so upsetting. :/
