Ah! Yes, that's possible. Spoils

Yeah, the whole "do not expect time travel to work in this film like it does in all the other films you've seen". It was a great way to set audience expectations.

I do still think there are alternate timelines that weren't extinguished, though. There have to be since Thanos came forward in time and never returned to his position in the past. Ditto Gamora, Nebula, Loki.

And then Steve Rogers/Peggy Carter have to have a timeline that ends up at the current Endgame timeline, but that means an altered past for that timeline since Peggy was instrumental in so much that lead to the 10 years of stories we saw. Nevermind that there would be two Steve Rogers once the past Steve was thawed.

It may be that the Stones, once returned, did extinguish all timelines but the one that leads to Endgame, but incorporated changes without disrupting the final outcome.

I think the answer is this:

Loki escapes the Endgame timeline, but returning the stone resets the timeline to before he escaped. So Loki is both reset and dies in Infinity War AND also still alive as the escaped past Loki. Same for the others.

Except Cap. He stayed in the past after extinguishing the other timelines and lived through the entire Endgame timeline without introducing enough alterations to affect the outcome. Perhaps even providing nudges along the way to keep things on the right path.
