Trubisky was thought of highly by a fair number of teams; if you don't have the pick, someone else could swoop in and take him from you.
The Bears eliminated that chance by moving up 1 for a guy they felt was legitimately worthwhile.

That could have happened, but given there were few teams who wanted a QB (and the Redskins were openly fellating the guy they got)...the Giants reached for a guy and then are making excuses for why.
