Hawkeye was wearing a glove. Just a minor point, but worth noting.

The stones are as mythical and unknown to the people in the MCU as they are to us; they don't instantly know all the properties of each individual stone, so they have to rely on the exposition of others.

The power stone alone is strong enough to destroy a planet. The GotG had to band together to deactivate it so it wouldn't destroy Xandar.

Somewhere in there I feel that there's a tidy explanation for all of it, so I find that it doesn't bother me not to know the exact explanation in all its minutiae.
