True, but they could probably manage with just the gay part of his character

But hey, we haven't seen all the black actors in Quebec, so maybe we'll find a hidden gem! I just remember doing casting and it was for the government, they needed 3 older male: 1 Caucasian, 1 Black, 1 Asian. We did 2 days of casting, and we managed to find a black actor that fit the part, but the Asian one was just too difficult. We met a bunch of people, but they all started doing the "Convenience store asian" bit as soon as we said action, and it was really hard to get them to do something else. It's all they've ever been asked to do so it's understandable.
In a small market, most of the actors here do it as a sideline, so it makes casting bigger part in TV shows always a challenge. Most amateur actors are tolerable in a commercial or a small role here and there, but in the end we end up with always the same actors on every TV show...
