He's a Republican, even though what being a Republican meant has flipped 180 degrees since then. And you have to pick someone

he's fairly inarguable in polite society and remembered by everyone - they'd maybe pick Coolidge but who remembers what Coolidge did while president? Or if you skip back past Lincoln, you have to address the question of why you skipped Lincoln and there's not a good one.
