I deferred once for CIM and it was the best decision ever and turned out to be an early Christmas present to myself. Returned a year later and ran the fastest ever for the distance.
I can tell you all about no motivation and thus no training but being stupid enough to show up and to uh participate in the race anyway. The aftermath was miserable and that was for only half the distance.
