It's a glass half-full thing, but they would have practiced that a lot. I'm confident that's where Gunnar was supposed to stand.

What tends to happen in these things -- and I see it a lot with New Japan -- is that guys go further when they practice. During the actual match, fatigue sets in and they lose some of their lift. I suspect that's what happened here.
Either way, Gunnar's reflexes prevented *serious* injury there.
