Without him our backup outfielder is Gardner who is not nearly as good as Maybin this year. Maybin has been exceptional, not just good.

Many games were won because of him. He's not the defender Gardner is but he's much better at the plate.

We're carrying 13 pitchers like most of the league but two guys are rarely used and have options. Let one of them go down and keep Maybin. He's proven that even in a part time role he can hit.
