A lot. (Also have seen lots of now-huge bands in small 150-300 max capacity places.)

Muse was probably the shortest-to-explode time though. We saw them at Plush/The Edge in 2005, and they had a capacity of 1000. Within the next 6 months-year they started playing huge arenas.
A few years ago with The 1975 / Sir Sly / Bad Suns all at one show at Freebird was also a good one.
